Today’s Prompt – This year I will fulfill my dream of ……. By ……….
I’ve been thinking a lot about dreams lately for two reasons.
First, my own dreams have been tested over the past few months as I move forward with my dream. I’m not sure that I will ever actually reach my dreams because they keep evolving into not only bigger, but also different dreams. And I am not sure I want to fulfill and finish my dreams because I am not sure where I will go from there. But then I think I will only come up with new dreams. Dreams help me keep moving forward.
The second reason I have been thinking about dreams is a conversation I had recently with a friend. She told me a person she knew who wouldn’t talk about dreams because “they would never happen so why spend time thinking about them.” This makes me sad to think about a person without dreams.
This morning I have another reason to think about dreams. I’m watching the Rose Parade. This year’s theme is “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” based on the Doctor Seuss. My mind is racing right now with ideas of places I want to go and things I want to do.
So what is your dream and what is the first step you are going to take toward its fulfillment.
READY, SET, WRITE!
This year I will fulfill my dream of…of what? I have so many dreams, but all great dreams have elements in them we can’t control. If we were fully in control, they wouldn’t be dreams, they’d be goals. My goals for this year are concrete and achievable, but the dreams…they are in God’s hands. So this year I will pray the Lord will fill me with the dreams He wants me to achieve, and I will be content with that. Because, really, what more could I want than God’s best for me?
Wisdom, Robin. Excellent.
This year I will fulfill my dream of…writing. By writing.
It seems silly to write that down here like that. After all I’ve been wanting to write ever since I could hold a pencil. And I HAVE written. Just in recent years I’ve been so busy with WWC and children and everything else that the only writing I do – at all – is during NaNoWriMo.
So writing every day. Writing SOMETHING every day is where I want to begin I think. And see where it goes from there.
And won’t this friend be glad to see you do it, Kristine. It’s time to take the NaNoWriMo brilliance and hone it to something you can share with the world. (I hope you mean you’ll tackle some of that in this writing year of yours.)
Yes, yes, Kristine, I hear you! I sent a tweet response earlier today to a lady who direct tweeted me and asked me what my dreams are for 2013. I told her my dream is to write – anything and submit it somewhere! I guess I’m starting with blogging since I have three set up on my web site, although a lot of the posts will be by guest bloggers. By the same token, I am trying to respond to others looking or guests so I can blog on their sites.
This year I will fulfill my dream of serving God by spreading the Gospel at my community college and possibly going on a missions trip in the summer.
(Sorry I’m so behind! Busy start to 2013. I’m going to try to do a few prompts today, though!)
